MARIO ABREU (Turnero, Venezuela, 1919 – Caracas 2003). Painter and sculptor. Between 1943 and 1949, he studies at the Plastic and Applied Arts School of Caracas. His work follows the line of magical realism with indigenous roots. He traveled throughout Italy and Spain and lived in Paris until 1962. Visits to the Musée de L’Homme of Paris and contact with Surrealist artists exerted an influence on his work. In 1960, he started his Objetos mágicos, among the works that best represent him.
