CARLOS CRUZ DIEZ (Caracas, Venezuela, 1923). Painter, sculptor and graphic designer known internationally as one of the major representatives of kinetic painting. Resides in France since 1956, where he was part of theNouvelle Tendance. In 1965, he participates in the The Responsive Eye exhibition organized by the Museum of Modern Artof New York. The Museum of Graphic Arts of Caracas was established under his guidance, and in 1971 he was awarded the National Plastic Arts Prize in that same city. His works are found in major museums throughout the world. In 2006, Simón Bolívar University in Caracas conferred on him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. Miami Art Museum will present a retrospective of his work in 2010.
